Atalya Laufer’s works typically encompass drawings and ready-mades. Art-related historical material, original documents or reproductions are used and transformed into new a-historical works. She plays with biographies and works of other artists to create new works that seem very much her own. Taken out of their context, drawings, collages and stories become malleable and are fictionalised. Laufer works are neither biographical nor entirely fictitious and they act as playful commemorative spaces for her perusing and research. They engage the tensions between fact and fiction, past and present & manipulation and decoration.
