Eine coole Socke

Laufer first encountered Lis Ere in the summer of 2017, shortly before she turned 100. Remarkably, for the preceding eleven years, both had been residing just 500 meters apart from their respective childhood homes. The home that shaped the first 19 years of each of their lives is now the home of the other. In 'Eine coole Socke,' Laufer explores their interconnected biographies through collages, drawings, and texts, tracing coincidences and geographical overlaps that reveal intriguing parallels between these two women's lives. Against the backdrop of vast changes in both worlds—1920s Berlin and the utopian Kibbutz of the 1980s—this work delves into memories, longstanding connections, and the rich tapestry of their shared and often contradictory childhood experiences.
