Elephants in the Room

In collaboration with Janina Schütz.
Painted ceramics, wooden table and display cabinets, dimensions variable

Elephants in the Room reflects on a yearlong project at the Jewish Museum Berlin involving artists from Syria, Iraq, Kurdistan, Israel, Germany, Spain, and France — including recent refugees. Despite weekly meetings and shared work sessions, the group never explicitly discussed their diverse backgrounds or the charged significance of gathering in this particular institution.

This silence, however, was palpable. The unique context of the Jewish Museum — a space shaped by history, memory, and identity — lingered as an unspoken presence, a quiet yet unavoidable “elephant in the room.”
